East Central Wisconsin has a robust bicycle and pedestrian network that connects communities through a system of bike lanes, sidewalks, and scenic trails. This network for active transportation and recreation make wayfinding signage an important feature for users to navigate from trail to trail and from community to community. Knowing its importance, ECWRPC, in partnership with Alta Planning + Design and local partners, developed The East Central Wisconsin Trail Wayfinding Guidebook to help communities develop their own wayfinding projects. This presentation will cover the basics of wayfinding signage, elements in the guidebook, and how ECWRPC used ArcGIS Collector and ArcGIS Online to create a placement plan - which was a key feature in developing the guidebook. During this presentation we will show how an ArcGIS Collector application was created and used to collect potential wayfinding signage placement points to aid in development of the guidebook. We will also demonstrate how we used ArcGIS Online to show communities the data we collected and gather valuable feedback. You can expect to come away with new ideas on how to utilize ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Collector, and the power of place using wayfinding signage.
